As the world becomes increasingly
globalized, the percentage of students from China and other countries who attend
university in the United States has grown exponentially. Many researchers are examining
the effects of this migration on the mental health of these international
students. Almost all of this research focuses on the negative aspects of the students' adjustment and experience. A gap in the research exists in terms of why Chinese students choose to study abroad and the perceived benefits of these students leaving their home country for an education in the United States.
